King's Bounty is a strategic turn-based game of 1C Company, based in a fantasy world. Imho a must have for RPG and turn-based battles fans. I could say a lot more about this admirable game but well. With due troop and money management, lots of tactical considerations, spell choices and so on of course. You wil have a great number of battles aniway though :) But be sure that it is possible to deal with all whose monsters at the Difficult or even Impossible levels. So if you want just to explore the world, to learn its history chatting with NPCs, take the Easy difficulty option. For the novices in turn based games it can be a bit tough. For veterans of HOMM such tactical subtleties are well known of course and this game presents a great variety of circumstences for its application. can bring down armies much larger than yours. But an ingenious use of troops special abilities, traps, all kinds of obstacles on the battlefield (natural and created like walls and ice), hindering enemy units spells etc. As enemy armies tend to become larger and larger, even a mage cannot kill all the monsters with attaking spells. The units and monsters besides basic charecteristics has special abilities (up to 7) which can change all the strategy. It's fun to explorer the wolnd full of amusing things, doing quests, collecting stuff and deciding to whom help and to whom not. The music is also nice, I really like some themes. Some things like buterflies or squirrels on trees wich some developers pehaps would think unnesessary make the scene nice and charming. The realm is bright and beautiful, unlike a darkish Diablo sort. So it is HOMM like KB and The Legend is it's brilliant development. It was by the far the best game runnung on IBM PC XT with 1MHz and 64Kb of memory :) I'm playing it sometimes even now. And I turned the frog princess back into a human which gave me +3 intellect and I was playing a mage. Why all keep talking that Kb the Legend is like HOMM? Actually there was the original KB which gave birth to the Heroes and some other Why all keep talking that Kb the Legend is like HOMM? Actually there was the original KB which gave birth to the Heroes and some other titles. But for the end game I had two units of dragons, giant, canoneer, and inquisitor. Once the snakes finally ran out I started to mix it up more, even went with a demon army for a bit. I just partied them up with archers, mages, alchemists, and whatever else, That was my lineup for much of the game. And the royals have the special ability to attack across two squares. They had a huge supply of royal snakes in the swamps and I married the frog princess that gave a huge snake attack bonus (when she's a frog), and an item that increased their speed. Then it was just a run across the orc map to the finale.įor over half the game I used snakes. Plus it was getting expensive to restock my troops, I had two dragon units. I had already played over 80 hours at that point and was ready to wrap it up. The dragon's labyrinth wasn't tough because I just avoided most of the enemies, I only did about three fights in there. General Karador was the toughest fight in the game, I had to go get another level and take two spells for three turns before going back to face him, and it was still tough. Used Armegeddon in the final fight which made it easy. Took me 86 hours on normal difficulty (117 game days).
